The Miss Universe Jamaica Pageant was held on Saturday night at the National Indoor Sports Arena. Reigning Miss Universe 2011 Leila Lopes was in attendance at the event. Guests were treated to performances from Chino and Leftside and at the end of the night, Chantal Zaky walked away with the coveted title. Second place went to Racquel Jones and third place went to Sherece Cowan.
Beenie Man is the first dancehall deejay to publicly declare his stance on the heated debate about gays and lesbians.
Mavado was fined $80,000 or six months on the charge of assault and another $20,000 or six months for malicious destruction of property.
Both sentences are to run concurrently the RM also ruled.
The conviction came out of an incident that took place in rural St James in July last year.
Brooks had injured a man who he claimed was blocking his way by using the wheel of his Sports Utility Vehicle to squeeze the man between his car door and the car the man was driving, causing swelling to his foot and a cut to his shoulder.
The court also heard that the damage to the car was about $25,000.
Versatile has inserted himself into the growing feud between two of Jamaica’s most acclaimed deejays while showing where his allegiance lies in the matter.

Singjay Mavado is all smiles this weekend as he returns to the United States after more than a year's absence. The artiste recently had his United States visa returned.In April of last year Mavado, whose correct name is David Brooks, was among four artistes who's US visas were cancelled.

The singer announced his intentions for the island's music at his media launch last night at the Spanish Court Hotel.
He unveiled the Caribbean leg of Compound Entertainment label, dubbed 'Compound Island.' The Compound brand takes the Jamaican initiative even further with his Compound Island series of parties set for Negril from July 29 - 30 this summer.

Dancehall deejay Elephant Man appeared before the Corporate Area Criminal Court on Thursday facing accusations that he stole electricity from the Jamaica Public Service (JPS.). Elephant Man denied the allegations.
However, JPS investigators and police told the court that they went to residence Hill Crest Avenue apartment in St. Andrew, last week Thursday; catching him in the act of stealing electricity.
The investigators claimed that they found an illegal wire connection to his apartment & that the appliance in his home consumed about 2,200 kilo watt hours per month; totaling JA$68,000 a month. The JPS officials are still trying to determine how long the Pon Di River deejay had that illegal connection in place...

The show, which was organized by Japanese Sound System, Mighty Crown, along with their management team – Irish & Chin – and executive sponsors VP Records, boasts a stellar lineup which includes three time Grammy Award winning artist Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley alongside the fire man Capleton, Freddie McGregor, Maxi Priest, Tarrus Riley, Etana, Gramps Morgan, Mojo Morgan, Tanya Stephenson, Mr. Vegas, Alaine, Chino, Laden and a host of other entertainers. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami relief effort of the American Red Cross.
